Split-Frame Window Installation Exterior
G1199
Looking at the exterior of a Split-Frame window installation shows how tidy it can look. A lot of care has gone into splitting the original window frame in half to allow the new one to butt up to it. This type of installation is not recommended for every style of the house, but it does work well in some instances. These wood windows have metal-clad exteriors and SDL grilles.
Sometimes removing the entire window and interior mouldings are not the best solution, as was the case in this Runnymede home. The split-frame installation allows the interior mouldings to remain while the exterior of the frame is literally split away to fit the new window. This type of installation can be very time-consuming and require a skilled installer. Here Eric and his crew prep the opening for a new window.
